I believe this is a relatively late model of Belknap John Primble, I am thinking 50s, 60s, or 70s. Razor was originally covered in gold wash, very little of which remains. Scales appear to be lucite tinted deeply golden. Blade is etched "Golden Primble", flanked by two golden "Primble Goods of Honour" shields. Shank is stamped "JOHN PRIMBLE" "BELKNAP HDW & MFG CO." "1100" on the front side, "BELKNAP HD. & MFG. Co" "LOUISVILLE, KY" on the reverse.
Original coffin is a two-piece paper box, tan in color, with silver print denoting John Primble, the Primble shield, Belknap Hardware, and Louisville, Ky.
When new, the gold wash and gold-tinted lucite scales probably made this thing downright garish. A few decades of age and use have removed the gold wash and given it character. A razor that I am proud to own - the prize of my small collection.
