Courtesy of Ben's relentless effort and David's installation of the required software, The Wiki Crew proudly present the latest instalment of Wiki goodness: SRDB2BBCode.
 +
 +
What is it?
 +
SRDB2BBCode is a piece of code which Ben put into the Straight Razor Data Base. In addition to producing the regular SRDB article for a razor, the code now additionally outputs BBCcode (Bulletin Board Code or BBCode is a lightweight markup language used to format posts in this forum) which you can use in a forum post.
 +
 +
Why would you want to use it?
 +
We have made the addition of razors to the SRDB as simple as possible. On average, it takes 2-3 minutes to add a razor with all its specifications, and an image. Apart from doing the SRP community a favour, the article will also allow to quickly reference a razor. There are two ways how you can do that. Like before, you can reference your razor via a direct link like this one: http://straightrazorplace.com/srpwiki/index.php/Deutsch%2C_Otto_%22Hans%22. With the new SRDB2BBCode, you can also quickly insert a table with the razor's specifications like this:

FOR ZEE ROBIN!!!
+
[table=head]Fields|Data
 +
Manufacturer| Deutsch, Otto
 +
Region| Germany
 +
Date| 1930's (?)
 +
Size| 6/8
 +
Point| Spike
 +
Shoulder| 2 stabilizers
 +
Jimps| Upper
 +
Scales| Plastic
 +
Steel| Carbon

<nowiki>[table=head]SOTD Items|Details
+
[/table]
Pre shave| Castle Forbes "The Pre Shave
+
We believe this will be useful in the Classifieds, and possibly also in the razor clubs forum.
Soap/Cream|

Razor|

Post shave| Alum Bar

After shave balm|

[/table]</nowiki>

 +
How do you use it?
 +
Three simple steps:

 +
  1. Open the SRDB article in your webbrowser.
 +
  2. Mark, and copy the code in the upper right hand corner (see screenshot).
 +
  3. Paste into the forum editor field.

{{#ask: [[Category:Straight_Razor_Database]]

That's all. Enjoy!
