Travelling with a straight razor can be a challenge. Not only is there [[:Category:Basic Equipment|a certain amount of equipment]] to be brought along. For some means of travel, such as flying, there also exist regulations that make bringing a razor along difficult. A good basic rule of thumb is to ensure the blade is secure. A case works well for this. Some travellers like to use a travel toothbrush case. A strop, brush and shaving soap are useful as well. Be safe and ensure your razor arrives at the destination in the same condition that it was packed.  Provide some padding around the razor (inside the case) for some added protection. Consider locating the razor in the center of the suitcase, instead of on an edge or lid. This provides the most protection from strong shocks or bumps.

*Straight razors must be with the checked in baggage to be acceptable for flight. A good rule of thumb is to not carry anything sharp on your person while flying. When in doubt, just check the bag.&nbsp;<br>

*Each individual container must have a capacity of no greater than three liquid ounces (90 ml). Passengers may not pass through the security screening with gel or liquid containers of greater capacity. Solid cosmetics such as alum blocks or shaving soaps are an exception to this rule. Please remember these items must be solid and not liquid, gel or aerosol. When in doubt, pack the items in the checked in baggage.<br>

*Another alternative is to actually travel without a razor. Most hotels will provide a complimentary disposable razor.<br>

Your airline may have restrictions on what is allowed on the airplane. If you are carrying an unusual item, or if you thing that an airline may have a restriction, be sure to contact your airline ahead of time, or to contact a representative in the airport.<ref>http://www.airsafe.com/danger.htm</ref>
